I just got back from my travels to the center of Rome to celebrate the New Year holiday! Tonight I went to Piazza del Popolo first and then traveled to Piazza di Spagna where the infamous Spanish Steps are located. There was a buzz in the air, and no, it wasn't my ears ringing from all the "larger than M80's" firecrackers going off everywhere. And I mean everywhere. It was the buzz of excitement from thousands of people gathered together.
- Huge booms
- Plenty of unorganized fireworks displays brought in by random people
- One stretcher containing and injured person being hauled away by an ambulance crew
- Lots of bubbly being drunk straight from the bottle
- Lots of bubbly vendors asking 10 Euro starting price initially for a bottle I could buy in the market for 2 Euro
- Plenty of empty bottles being thrown as far into the center of the empty space as if it were a game to who's bottle could shatter the most.
Thankfully, I'm pretty tall so here's a taste of Rome for you all.
